Re: Alterations to operating hours at Minsterley
Ranges
Dear Member,
It is with some regret that I write to inform you of some alterations
to our operating hours here at the ranges. Please note these
alterations apply with immediate effect.
We, like a number of other shooting clubs nationally, have found
ourselves in a position where we have had to take this step in
the hope of satisfying our local council that we are taking all
reasonable steps to minimise the problem of noise coming from
the ranges. Sadly, there is a greater intolerance these days
to the noise produced from the recreational use of firearms,
and we have taken these steps in the hope that any noise nuisance
inflicted upon the surrounding locality is kept to a minimum.
I hope that by taking these steps now, we shall be able to avoid
even more draconian constraints being forced upon us in the future.
I trust that whilst sharing my heartfelt disappointment, you
will understand and continue to support the club and Minsterley
Ranges. This is more important now that it has ever been in the
past, especially with the various threats to the shooting sports
which come from variety of directions. Only by a strong and healthy
membership, and with frequent participation can the sport achieve
a long term future.
The new arrangements will take place with immediate effect and
are as follows:
The ranges will be closed on Mondays.
Shooting on weekdays will commence at 09.30hrs. and finish at
16.00hrs.
Shooting on Saturdays will commence at 10.00hrs. and finish at
16.00hrs.
Shooting on Sundays will commence at 10.00hrs and finish at 13.00hrs.
We will also be closed on the following days: Christmas Eve,
Christmas Day, Boxing Day,
New Years Day, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday and Remembrance Sunday.
We would also ask that you use sound moderators
on your rifles wherever practicable. These are a very beneficial
aid in the battle of reducing noise, and we are happy to advise
and assist anyone who may be interested in having a
sound moderator fitted to their rifle.
Yours faithfully,
David Ryan.
